If 90% of our fears will never happen, why does that emotion keep so many of us from following through? I ask this question because it has stopped me. Many times. From making a choice to do something other than the status quo. I don’t consider myself a fearful person, but I know that fear has kept me from choosing another path several times in my life.
I do consider myself a spiritual/faithful person, that it’s not over after this life here on Earth. I’m also a believer that everything happens for a reason and that there are no coincidences. Saint Augustine’s definition of faith “is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe”. So if 90% of my worries aren’t going to happen, and I don’t need to see to believe, does this mean my fear is greater than my faith? Or does it mean that I wasn’t supposed to follow through all those other times?
I believe I’m on the right path at the right time. Is it coincidental that my husband and I made another huge leap of faith a year ago and it has turned into one of our biggest blessings? I don’t think so. Even though it was the scariest thing we’ve ever done, we are thrilled with the decision we made. That first leap of faith has given me more courage to listen to my heart this time. It’s made this decision a little less scary.
I’m working hard, laying the groundwork for success. I’m still scared, but I have faith that if this plan doesn’t work out, it’s going to lead to something even better. It already has. I am making new friends and connecting in different ways with old ones who encourage me to pursue my goals. We are helping each other. And that is awesome! I’m hopeful that I am going to see what I believe.
Why am I sharing this? Because I’m no different than you. I have self-doubt, fear of failure, fear of rejection, etc…If I can do this, so can you. I want to share my journey to inspire you to not only chase your dreams, but catch them. Life is short. What is it that you want but are afraid to go after? Have some faith. There are people who will be glad to help you achieve your goals. I’m one of them.
