All of my blogs have been so serious! And I’m not sure why. I can be a serious person, but I think I’m generally pretty light-hearted. I’m a glass half full kind of girl. I enjoy a good joke and I think a lot of people would say I have a quick wit. So I’m not sure why I’ve been on such a  consistently serious track. I’ve got to get over it!

I listened to a podcast this morning. One I had been putting off because of the title “The Happiness Equation” with Mo Gawdat. I don’t know why I was put off by it, but I guess it was where my head has been. The choice was taken out of my hands when it came on automatically after I finished another podcast. I was immediately taken in by Mo’s story. And his resilience. I won’t go into it, because you should listen to his google talk on you tube (or the podcast with Lewis Howes), where he will tell you himself. And talk about his book, Solve for Happy: Engineer your Path to Joy.

In a nutshell, he says it is a choice to be happy. And it is an achievable choice. He has engineered a way to be happy in spite of terrible things that can happen in life. You can have pain, but you don’t have to suffer. And he can tell you how.

He also believes that each of us are put on this earth for a different reason, but  to achieve our full potential, whatever that is. And you can’t achieve your full potential without first being happy. So find what makes you happy and do that. And the rest will follow.

I’m buying this book for a couple of family members that I think could use it. I might need to read it first. Sometimes we can get stuck. In grief, in habits, in patterns that we don’t know how to break. And I’m telling you right now, if he can do it, we can do it. It’s time to get over it. We can have pain, but we don’t need to suffer.

I really want to end this on a high note. So…Two cartons of yogurt walk into a bar. The bartender, who is a tub of cottage cheese, says to them, “We don’t serve your kind in here.” One of the yogurt cartons says to him, “Why not? We’re cultured individuals.”

I’m sorry…not!
